The Gropper Seafood Story
A Tradition of Excellent ServiceAs a fish and Seafood company, we are a very active participant in economic activities in the coastal regions of East Africa where our products originate from. These great experiences made it possible to set up seafood outlets in our home town, Nairobi. We opened our first shop on 25th November 2020, at Spring Valley Business Park, Lower Kabete Road, Spring Valley and shortly after our second shop and Grill on 12th December 2021 (a significant day to us as we celebrate Kenya’s Independence Day also known as Jamuhuri Day, on the same day) at The Gigiri Courtyard (Craft Centre), Gigiri Lane, Gigiri, whereby we executed a unique concept-a combined raw seafood shop and seafood grill.
Our shops and Grill are situated in culturally diverse and cosmopolitan neighbourhoods full of fish & seafood lovers.
Since inception, we continue to listen carefully to our customers and always explore ways to serve them better. We endeavor to bring a positive impact to all our key stakeholders-our amazing staff members, our ever supportive & valued customers and our dependable suppliers & their families.
We are at the forefront of sustainable fishing and we do not supply any threatened species such blue fin tuna or shark. Being long finned and growing slowly, they are particularly vulnerable. We also do not supply parrot fish.
Further we strive to change for the better the livelihood of our fishermen who deliver only the best products under very challenging circumstances. We therefore have put together an exciting program as part of our CSR initiative that ensures they have safe boats, updated equipment and an accessible market with best prices which is a win-win for them & their families. Also and as part of the CSR program, we recognise the current disparity whereby women in fishing communities are scarcely involved in commercial activities. Our program intends to make these women more relevant in wealth generation in their families and communities, by putting them in charge of the boats, motor machines, fishing equipment and also the fish & seafood preservation processes.
Gropper Seafood cares about using our natural resources sustainably. That includes the waste material from the products we sell. For example, we create wearable & unique art, ear wear, from the oyster shells of oysters. These are quite popular with the ladies.
As a company we also donate to the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (KSPCA) of all the offcut products for their use. We are currently considering expanding our donation program to children homes and aged care facilities.
Since inception, we have provided fresh and good quality raw seafood from our shops and meals from our Grill. We have been honoured to receive & serve customers from all over Nairobi and it’s environs. It has been an exciting journey and we are even more excited about the future.
We remain very grateful and appreciative of all our customers for their invaluable support and patronage.
Asanteni sana na karibu tena.
